Budget 2024 and why it's time to tax extreme wealth

This Budget 2024, we are calling for a more progressive and imaginative approach to taxation that would revolutionise Ireland’s approach to public expenditure.

This could impact across national issues of cost of living supports, health, housing and beyond as well as our international commitments across development assistance and climate.

Every year, with every budget, there is not enough to go around. Even in this exceptional year of budgetary surplus, so many important needs have not and cannot be met.

But there is enough if we effectively and fairly tax extreme wealth.

Our one ask in relation to Budget 2024 and future budgets, is to convene a national forum on how to tax extreme wealth fairly, effectively and renewably.
